Belgian regulation change

On October 31st 2017, the Belgian Authorities published the Royal Decree of 19 September 2017. This amends the Royal Decree of 3 March 1992, concerning the place on the market of nutrients and food to which nutrients have been added.

  • Thiamin, riboflavin, pantothenic acid, vitamin B12, biotin, chloride and sodium: removal of existing maximum levels
  • Vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E, vitamin K, folic acid, boron, fluoride, iron and copper: increase of maximum levels
  • Manganese: reduction of maximum level

Mandatory warnings will be required for the labelling of products containing a particular level of vitamin K, potassium, zinc and nicotinic acid.

All products on the Belgian market have to be compliant by September 2019 at the latest.
